The team had publicly given the attacker 48 hours to return the funds after stating it had identified them. The attacker returned the funds Friday and sent an on-chain message saying they were in the wrong. The exploit stemmed from a bug in how Near Intents’ Omni deposit and withdrawal layer interacted with its main smart contract. The cross-chain swap service, which allows token swaps across 35 blockchains and has processed over $30 billion, had pledged to fully compensate affected users.
