Tesla presented Optimus Academy, a training program in which the first Optimus robots perform real-world tasks to improve their own artificial intelligence models. Elon Musk said Tesla plans to produce between 10,000 and 20,000 Optimus units for this fleet dedicated to learning. Production has begun at the Fremont factory in California, while a larger facility is under construction in Austin, Texas. Tesla plans to integrate the AI5 chip into the robots around April 2027 and begin deliveries to external customers by the end of that year. A new video, expected within the next few months, is set to show the robots performing artificial intelligence-driven tasks.
