Elon Musk claims SoftBank is defaulting on turbine orders, shares slide 10.83%

Elon Musk accused SoftBank of failing to honor its turbine orders, although no details of any alleged payment default have been confirmed. SoftBank shares fell 10.83% during Tokyo trading after the post on X on November 6, 2026. The turbines were reportedly ordered by SB Energy, SoftBank’s US energy subsidiary, for a planned natural-gas facility in Ohio of approximately 9.2 GW. The claim comes as financing for the Stargate artificial intelligence project faces renewed scrutiny, amid a reported auction of about $500 million in data-center loans and a force majeure notice concerning one project site. With turbine delivery lead times of up to seven years, any delay could push back the Ohio facility’s commissioning by several years.
