The Financial Conduct Authority launched consultation CP26/36 on October 21 on regulatory exclusions for certain crypto activities. The document covers temporary settlement arrangements, the holding of qualifying stablecoins in payment processing, some proprietary trading activities and technical services that merely provide access to another provider or a decentralised protocol. The authority is not treating every decentralised finance front end as exempt, since eligibility depends on the actual activities and circumstances. Responses are due on November 18, with final guidance expected in January 2027, while the broader UK crypto regulatory perimeter is scheduled to apply from October 25, 2027.
