According to Bitwise’s quarterly report, approximately 46% of NEAR tokens, or 596 million tokens worth $3 billion, were staked. The ratio remained stable after the network reduced its maximum annual issuance from 5% to 2.5% in late 2025, while the average staker yield reached 4.87%. Bitwise launched the NEAR ETF, ticker NRR, in late September 2026, with a net staking rate of 3.31% as of October 16, 2026. NEAR governance opened voting on October 19, 2026, on proposal HSP-029, which seeks to lower maximum annual issuance to 1.6% over 24 months. If adopted, the gross staking yield could fall to around 3.37%, with 90% of new tokens distributed to stakers and 10% allocated to the treasury.
