Zcash activated its NU7 network upgrade on testnet on October 4, at block 4,465,026. This upgrade aims to reduce target block spacing from 75 to 25 seconds. It also disables version 4 transactions and integrates a Network Sustainability Mechanism that redirects part of transaction fees into future block rewards. Funds held in Zcash’s legacy Sprout shielded pool will become unspendable unless users move them before full activation. The final decision on mainnet activation is scheduled for October 20, with a target activation date of November 5.
