US investment-grade bond sales hit third straight monthly record as AI spending reshapes corporate debt markets

US investment-grade bond sales have hit a third consecutive monthly record, reaching $1,681 billion over the first seven months of 2026, a 26.9% increase compared to the same period last year. Hyperscale companies, including Microsoft, Meta, Alphabet, Amazon, and Nvidia, have collectively issued approximately $225 billion in bonds in the first half of 2026, a staggering 973.7% increase from the prior year. Microsoft priced a $19.75 billion multi-tranche bond offering in early August 2026, making it the fifth-largest corporate bond sale in global history. Annual totals are projected to reach between $1.8 trillion and $2.25 trillion by year-end.
