A Bitcoin wallet containing 8.54 BTC (approximately $538,000) has awakened after more than 15 years of inactivity. The address, dormant since June 2011, generated an estimated gain of 461,981% from an initial acquisition cost of approximately $14 per BTC, according to Galaxy Research. This transaction was executed in block 962770. Although the coins are unlikely to be related to Satoshi Nakamoto, the address was created just months after the pseudonymous creator’s last public social media post. Other notable whale transfers were observed in recent weeks, including dormant pre-mined Ethereum and Bitcoin addresses inactive for over ten years.
