‘This is huge’ – Bitcoin completes first quantum-resistant transaction

On August 27, the StarkWare and MARA Foundation teams announced that they had conducted the first known quantum-resistant Bitcoin transaction. The transaction was executed via MARA’s private mempool Slipstream using StarkWare’s quantum-safe Bitcoin scheme without requiring a softfork. While Bitcoin at rest is considered quantum-resistant, the issue arises the moment an address is used for a transaction, as the public key is then exposed. The market is currently pricing only a 5% probability of adoption for a network-wide post-quantum upgrade this year.
