Blockchain gaming platform The Sandbox suffered a bridge exploit on Aug. 21 that drained 14.744 million SAND tokens, worth approximately $700,000. Eligible holders on Base and BNB Chain will receive an equivalent amount of Ethereum-based SAND from the project’s treasury, with no new tokens minted. The claims process is expected to open within two weeks. The attacker exploited a configuration flaw in the Base and BNB Chain contracts, allowing them to become the sole verifier of incoming bridge messages and mint unbacked tokens.
