Palo Alto Networks fell more than 5% ahead of its quarterly earnings report. Fervo Energy surged more than 25% after announcing a 396-megawatt power purchase agreement with Google, the world’s largest enhanced geothermal power purchase agreement to date. Apple gained 3% as John Ternus took over as CEO, with Tim Cook becoming executive chairman. Moderna rose 5%, building on an August surge of 156%, after positive results from a cancer vaccine developed with Merck. Novartis advanced 6% following favorable trial data for its multiple sclerosis drug.
