Saudi wealth fund and Jared Kushner’s Affinity finalize $55 billion EA Sports deal

A consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund has completed the $55 billion acquisition of video game maker Electronic Arts. The deal, which includes private equity firm Silver Lake and Affinity Partners led by former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, is thought to be the largest leveraged buyout in history. EA shareholders will receive $210 in cash per share and the company will be delisted from the Nasdaq. The PIF is reportedly borrowing $20 billion from JPMorgan to finance the transaction. Analysts have raised concerns about the heavy debt burden, predicting significant layoffs, studio closures and potential intellectual property sell-offs.
