Republican Senator John Curtis has called for an investigation into the ties of the Trump and Biden families with the cryptocurrency industry. The investigation would notably focus on Donald Trump’s memecoin, the family business World Liberty Financial and a 500 million dollar deal tied to Abu Dhabi’s royal family. This request comes one week after Senate Republicans failed to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which Democrats opposed partly because the president would be using cryptocurrency « to turn the presidency into a profit generating machine. » The president disclosed having earned 1.4 billion dollars from digital asset ventures in 2025.
