Polygon has proposed a hard fork of its main network to recover about 70.49 million POL, worth around $7 million, held in five attacker-controlled addresses. The funds, which are already frozen, are linked to two incidents on October 29 and 30, 2026: roughly 23.86 million POL across four addresses associated with Polymarket and 46.63 million POL in one address linked to Binance. The proposal, introduced on November 4, 2026, would zero out the balances of the attacker addresses and credit verified recovery accounts without changing POL’s total supply. The community is scheduled to discuss it on November 5, 2026, followed, if approved, by about two weeks of development and testing before a possible mainnet deployment. Other assets, including USDT, are not covered, while Binance and Polymarket have already reimbursed most affected customers.
