President Vladimir Putin threatened Thursday to use all weapons at Russia’s disposal, including nuclear arms, in case of a direct attack on Russian territory, notably the Kaliningrad exclave. This statement followed a warning from Moscow to NATO, accusing the alliance of preparing an air and naval blockade of Kaliningrad, a Russian exclave located between Poland and Lithuania, both NATO members. NATO denied these allegations, stating in its reply that the alliance is purely defensive and does not target the region. Western military analysts note that key installations in Kaliningrad, where nuclear-capable Iskander missiles are deployed, would be priority targets in case of conflict with NATO.
