OpenAI has published a detailed response to Apple’s trade secrets lawsuit allegations. The company states that Apple made factual errors, including confusing two employees with similar names and incorrectly claiming its lawyers had contacted OpenAI’s General Counsel before filing suit. OpenAI also released text message exchanges showing former Apple employees continued seeking help from a former engineer after he left. Apple accuses former engineer Chang Liu of retaining a company laptop and accessing internal systems after his departure, as well as former executive Tang Tan of using confidential Apple information for OpenAI’s benefit in developing its hardware products.
