Boltz, the non-custodial swap service connecting Bitcoin to the Lightning Network and Liquid sidechain, has indefinitely suspended all operations on August 3, 2026. The reason: attackers using artificial intelligence tools were exploiting vulnerabilities faster than the small development team could patch them. No user funds were lost thanks to the atomic swap architecture, but Aqua and Bull Bitcoin wallets now need to find alternative providers. Boltz’s team indicated that substantial infrastructure changes will be necessary before any safe resumption of operations.
