OpenAI has acquired Glass Imaging, a California-based startup specializing in AI-powered smartphone camera technology, in a deal valued at over $300 million. Founded in 2019 by former Apple engineers Ziv Attar and Tom Bishop, the company developed GlassAI, a neural network-based image signal processing system. The acquisition represents approximately a 10x return on the $31.5 million raised by the startup. Investors GV and Insight Partners, which led recent funding rounds including a $20 million Series A in May 2025, stand to see significant returns. This deal follows OpenAI’s aggressive acquisition strategy, including the $6.5 billion purchase of io and the $1.1 billion acquisition of Statsig.
