Mantic, a London-based AI startup, has raised $25 million in a seed round led by Radical Ventures, with participation from Microsoft’s M12 and Balderton Capital. The company won the Metaculus Cup this summer by beating every human participant and nearly all competing bots with its AI forecasting system. Mantic uses a judgmental forecasting approach that combines human-style reasoning with historical data backtesting. Founded in 2024 by Toby Shevlane, a former Google DeepMind scientist, and Ben Day, a Cambridge machine learning PhD, the company targets medium-term predictions such as geopolitical shifts and economic turning points. The company is already seeing interest from enterprise clients and government agencies globally.
