Nvidia, Alphabet, and AMD are projected to account for approximately 85% of global high-bandwidth memory demand by 2027, according to Morgan Stanley estimates. Nvidia leads with 37.3%, followed by Alphabet at 36% and AMD at 12.1%, leaving other AI players competing for the remaining capacity. The three major HBM manufacturers, SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron, have already filled their 2027 production capacity, with significant new capacity not expected until late 2027 or 2028. Nvidia alone has committed 279 billion dollars to memory procurement, as HBM now represents over 50% of total bill-of-materials cost in GPU designs, up from roughly 20%. This supply-demand imbalance is expected to persist for two to three years.
