South Korea’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has ordered the blocking of 27 websites of unregistered crypto platforms, including those of KuCoin, MEXC, Phemex, and Bitrue. This measure, adopted after reviews on October 6 and 7, aims to prevent access from South Korean territory to the services concerned, without waiting for a user to report harm. Foreign platforms targeting South Korean clients must also register with the FIU and obtain ISMS certification to operate legally. The regulator currently lists 28 registered providers and has reported 44 unregistered operators to investigative services.
