Binance ceased its buying and selling operations for French clients on July 1st, before closing or liquidating all remaining margin positions and loans on October 1st. The flat tax on cryptocurrency gains was raised to 31.4%, comprising 12.8% income tax and 18.6% social contributions, applicable to 2025 disposals already declared. The DAC8 directive, transposed in France by decree in December 2025, requires crypto-asset service providers to report their clients’ identities and transaction details to the tax authorities from January 1st, 2026, with a first deadline before June 15th, 2027. The European Central Bank selected 36 payment providers for a twelve-month digital euro pilot in the second half of 2027, with a first issuance planned for 2029 pending adoption of the regulation by European co-legislators.
