Hunter Biden announced the launch of the LAPTOP memecoin on X with a six-letter ticker and a launch date set for September 9 on Base, Ethereum’s layer 2 network developed by Coinbase. The total supply amounts to 1 billion tokens, with 30 % going to founders under a six-month lockup followed by a two-year vesting period, while 20 % will be distributed via airdrops to certain TRUMP holders who suffered losses. Even before the official launch, at least 14 clone tokens have already emerged due to the lack of a verified contract address. Hunter Biden, who is indebted with 14 to 17 million dollars in legal fees, had stated he wanted to « make some money » during an interview. TRUMP has lost more than 90 % of its value since its record high of 73 dollars in January 2025.
