General Brad Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command, said the U.S. military has supported the transit of 1 billion barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz over the past two months. He claimed Iran has « exported zero barrels » due to the U.S. blockade. The strait’s primary transit lanes have been cleared of mines, and the volume of oil, natural gas and cargo transiting through the area over the past two weeks is the highest in six months. About one-fifth of the world’s traded oil and natural gas passed through this strait before the conflict began, but Iran continues to attack ships in this strategic waterway.
