Base plans to activate Denim on mainnet on November 5 at 18:00 UTC. The upgrade replaces Flashblocks with five complete blocks per second, compared with one canonical block every two seconds previously. Applications must adapt their block and RPC streams, particularly their indexing systems, balance-tracking logic and timestamp processing. Denim also introduces millisecond-aware time information, requiring systems to stop treating second-based timestamps as unique ordering keys. Node operators must install the required release before activation, whose effects can only be assessed after it takes place.
