AMD earnings report triggers stock decline despite beating estimates across the board

AMD released its Q1 2026 results on May 5, with revenue hitting $10.3 billion, up 38% year-over-year, and earnings per share at $1.37, beating consensus estimates by roughly 9-10%. The data-center segment surged 57% year-over-year to $5.8 billion in sales, now accounting for more than half of total revenue. Despite these strong performances, the stock declined during regular trading as investors took profits after the initial after-hours gain. In July 2026, AMD also secured a 15-year deal with Core Scientific, a former Bitcoin miner, with projected base revenue exceeding $14 billion.
