Luxor Technology announced a $16 million funding round led by CMT Digital, with Bitcoin mining equipment makers Canaan and MicroBT participating, alongside Halo, Steelhead and several individual investors. The amount includes new investment and purchases of existing shares, but the company did not disclose how each category was split, meaning it does not entirely represent fresh capital for expansion. Luxor will use services initially developed for Bitcoin miners to meet the computing power needs of artificial intelligence customers, an activity launched in September. Its hardware business has traded $1 billion worth of specialized machines, while its energy services cover more than 75 megawatts of electricity demand across two US power markets. Luxor continues to operate its mining pool, software and other services for Bitcoin miners as it develops its AI operations.
