SK Hynix expects DRAM demand to grow by the mid-20% range in 2027, while NAND demand is forecast to rise by roughly 17% to 19%. The trend is driven by artificial intelligence data centers, whose memory requirements exceed production capacity. CEO Kwak Noh-jung said the industry will face its worst supply situation and that demand should continue to outpace supply beyond 2030. Long equipment lead times, contracts already covering 70% to 80% of planned 2027 DRAM and NAND output, and nearly 100% of HBM production already being spoken for make it difficult to expand capacity quickly. HBM is expected to consume nearly 30% of industry DRAM wafer capacity in 2027, compared with about 20% currently, potentially raising costs for cloud operators and computer manufacturers.
