2027 Budget: Where Is the Stablecoin Tax?

Share

The tax on conversions from cryptocurrencies into stablecoins is due to be debated in the National Assembly on October 27 and face a final vote on November 3. Adopted by one vote on October 16, Nicolas Sansu’s amendment would remove the tax deferral on these conversions from January 1, 2027, and apply a flat rate of 31.4% to capital gains without taxing a subsequent conversion back into euros. A comprehensive rejection of the revenue section of the state budget would also eliminate the tax, the extension of the exit tax to cryptocurrency holders, and the declaration requirement for self-hosted wallets exceeding 100,000 euros. The revenue section of the social security budget was already rejected by 115 votes to one and will be examined by the Senate from November 9, while the state budget has one week of debates before its final vote.
