Inferact, a San Francisco-based AI infrastructure startup, has raised $150 million in seed funding, valuing the company at $800 million post-money. The round was announced on January 22, 2026, with backing from Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Founded by the core maintainers of vLLM, Inferact plans to commercialize this open-source inference engine for large language models while keeping the source code accessible. vLLM, originally developed at UC Berkeley’s Sky Computing Lab in 2023, is already used in production by Amazon, Meta, and Google, supporting over 500 model architectures and more than 200 hardware accelerators.
