Zcash has activated its NU7 network upgrade on the public testnet at block height 4,465,026. This upgrade aims to reduce block time from 75 to 25 seconds, introduce a fee-recycling mechanism called the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM) that redirects 60% of transaction fees toward network longevity, and retire the Sprout shielded pool. The mainnet deployment decision is scheduled for October 20, 2026, with a target activation date of November 5, 2026. Exchanges, wallet providers and node operators will need to ensure their systems are compatible before this date.
