He stated that gambling is morally wrong because it is built on the desire to obtain something for nothing. This position puts the conservative church at odds with the Trump administration, which argues that platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket do not constitute gambling and should not be subject to restrictions in Utah. In August, a federal judge ruled that Utah officials can enforce their strict anti-gambling laws on prediction markets. Utah, where the church is based, has no casinos, lotteries or racetracks that allow bets.
