Hong Kong bankers skip summer break as AI drives record fundraising

Hong Kong equity markets raised a record 47.5 billion dollars between July and September, with artificial intelligence as the main driver of this performance. Dealmakers handling those share sales largely gave up their summer break to keep up the pace. Zhipu AI completed the summer’s standout deal by raising 4 billion dollars through a share placement in July, as part of a 5.8 billion dollars AI financing week. This quarterly amount brings the year-to-date total above 92 billion dollars, with the annual record standing at 112.5 billion dollars set in 2021. Goldman Sachs indicated that 2026 could surpass this annual record, provided the fourth quarter remains active.
