French supercomputer manufacturer Bull, now state-owned, inaugurated the expansion of its Angers factory on October 1, 2026, doubling its monthly production capacity from 6 to 12 racks for an investment of 80 million euros. This expansion responds to growing demand for AI and high-performance computing systems, as Bull won 15 of 18 EuroHPC tenders in 2026, including LUMI-AI, a 388 million euro contract for Finland, the largest in its history. The company also signed a deal worth nearly 100 million euros with Airbus to expand the aerospace giant’s simulation capabilities. Fully acquired by the French state on March 31, 2026, through the purchase of Atos for up to 404 million euros, Bull now features approximately 70 percent European component content in its systems, up from 20 to 30 percent five years ago.
