Japan’s biggest payment network opens its doors for crypto via Binance Pay

Japanese mobile payment giant PayPay integrated Binance Pay on September 30, allowing eligible overseas visitors to pay at participating offline stores in Japan using their crypto balances. The service, powered by the cross-border payment network HIVEX, automatically converts crypto to yen at the point of sale, while merchants receive the proceeds in Japanese yen. Access is restricted to visitors who have completed identity verification on Binance and is not available to Japan residents. Refund amounts may vary due to exchange rate fluctuations and applicable spreads, and the service does not work with all merchants, including online platforms, some taxis, and vending machines.
