Barclays aims to have 50 % of its software developers using Anthropic’s Claude Code by the end of 2026, expanding to a majority by 2027. The UK bank has already deployed a knowledge assistant built on Claude models to over 16,000 employees serving roughly 20 million UK retail customers, with over 1 million searches processed. In its Global Markets division, Claude sorts and routes approximately 120,000 incoming emails every day. The rollout is part of a multi-year efficiency program targeting approximately £2 billion in savings. For Anthropic, Barclays joins a financial services client list that already includes hedge funds ExodusPoint, Millennium Management and Man Group.
