A study by consulting firm BearingPoint, published on October 1, 2026, reveals that only 13% of surveyed companies are on track with their AI initiatives. Less than one-third have moved beyond pilot projects, despite 75% of respondents reporting positive financial results from AI. The two main obstacles are regulatory hurdles, cited by 40% of respondents, and difficulties integrating AI with legacy IT systems, at 34%. The study also highlights a stark gap between cost savings and revenue growth: 24% of companies achieved AI-driven cost savings of at least 10%, versus only 4% reaching revenue growth of 10% or more. Regarding implementation, China leads at 20%, followed by the United States at 18% and Germany at 8%.
