Trump ‘thinking about’ diesel export ban, but says it could have ‘negative impact’ on gasoline

President Donald Trump said Wednesday he is still « thinking about » banning diesel exports to address high energy prices, while acknowledging it could have a « negative impact » on gasoline prices. The U.S. oil industry had warned against the ban, saying it would force refineries to cut production and ultimately raise domestic energy prices. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said diesel prices have already come down recently and that American refineries are running at record highs. Diesel prices have soared to record highs amid the ongoing conflicts in Iran and Ukraine, which have caused major disruptions to global energy flows.
