Quantum computing stocks face scrutiny as insiders sell $840M–$931M in shares

Insiders at the four major publicly traded quantum computing companies – IonQ, Rigetti, D-Wave, and Quantum Computing Inc. – have collectively sold between $840M and $931M in shares over several years, with minimal buybacks. D-Wave CEO Alan Baratz alone sold roughly $18M in company shares in June 2026. Valuations in the sector are extremely elevated, with IonQ trading at approximately 69 times sales and some peers at 400 to 500 times sales. IonQ reported a 287% year-over-year revenue increase in Q2 2026, but none of these companies are currently profitable.
