The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has moved its FRNT stable token from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP. This decision follows a $292 million exploit involving KelpDAO, in which attackers affiliated with North Korea compromised LayerZero Labs infrastructure and used a forged message to release funds on Ethereum. The Commission’s review also uncovered serious failures in access controls, private key management and incident disclosures, including a failure to transfer production authorization and inadequate control over a critical private key. Chainlink CCIP was selected as the only solution meeting the required institutional security standards for a state-backed digital asset. FRNT, the first US dollar-backed stable token issued by a US state, is deployed across eight major blockchain networks and will fully migrate away from LayerZero.
