U.S. forces struck three Iranian crude oil carriers Saturday in response to ballistic missile attacks by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps against two American warships in the region. U.S. Central Command permanently disabled one crude oil carrier off the coast of Kharg Island and another near Jask, while a third was attacked in the Gulf of Oman. No American personnel were harmed. Admiral Brad Cooper, Centcom commander, said the U.S. would impose even higher economic costs on Iran, warning that American forces would not hesitate to destroy Iran’s limited and exposed oil fleet.
