Apple has appointed John Ternus as its new chief executive officer, effective September 1, 2026. The 25-year Apple veteran replaces Tim Cook, who transitions to executive chairman after growing the company’s valuation from 350 billion dollars to approximately 4.6 trillion dollars during his 15-year tenure. Ternus, 51, oversaw the development of virtually all of Apple’s physical products, including the iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods. He inherits the challenge of deepening artificial intelligence integration across Apple’s ecosystem amid intensifying competition from Google, Microsoft, and Meta. Alongside this promotion, Apple elevated Johny Srouji to chief hardware officer.
