Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, announced these conditions in response to mediators pressing Tehran to restore access to the waterway that previously handled approximately 20% of the world’s daily oil and LNG shipments. WTI crude currently trades around $83 per barrel, reflecting the sustained disruption. Negotiations with Oman regarding a temporary shipping corridor are underway, but this limited arrangement remains conditioned on broader US concessions.
