OpenAI has added a native meetings plugin to ChatGPT that allows users to record meetings directly within the app and automatically generate timestamped transcripts, key discussion points, and action items. The feature, which uses OpenAI’s Whisper model for transcription, first rolled out in June 2025 for Team, Enterprise, and Education subscribers on macOS, with Plus users gaining access in July. Recording sessions can run between 120 and 240 minutes depending on the plan, and original audio files are typically deleted after transcription. By entering this space, OpenAI positions itself as a direct competitor to Otter.ai, Fireflies, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini in the enterprise productivity market.
