The supply-chain savant: How FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam leads through ‘reglobalization’

Raj Subramaniam, CEO of FedEx, is steering the company through a major geopolitical upheaval he calls « reglobalization ». The group handles around 18 million packages daily, generates two petabytes of data every day, and reported revenue of $94.7 billion in the latest fiscal year, up 8%. Subramaniam, who became only the second CEO in FedEx’s 53-year history in 2022, is leading a transformation program called « DRIVE » that includes merging the Express and Ground networks in the United States and developing FedEx Dataworks, a data offering leveraging artificial intelligence. FedEx founder Fred Smith passed away in June 2025 at the age of 80, leaving Subramaniam to carry on the company’s cultural legacy alone, with the trucking division FedEx Freight having listed on the stock exchange on June 1.
