Dutch striker Donyell Malen scored a hat-trick as AS Roma beat Fiorentina 3-0 at home in their Serie A season opener on Saturday August 24. Paulo Dybala provided all three assists, setting up goals in the 27th, 52nd and 60th minute to give Gian Piero Gasperini his first Serie A victory as Roma head coach. Malen, who arrived on loan from Aston Villa in January 2026 with a reported obligation to buy worth around 27 million euros, scored 14 goals in 18 Serie A appearances during the second half of the 2025-26 season. This hat-trick was his second for the club.
