Cardano’s governance body Intersect has announced a two-phase roadmap for the Dijkstra upgrade, with Phase 1 targeted for Q4 2026 and Phase 2 for Q2 2027. Phase 1 will introduce Ouroboros Linear Leios, a scaling mechanism that adds Ranking Blocks and Endorser Blocks to process additional transactions during idle periods, alongside Nested Transactions for improved composability. Phase 2 will bring Ouroboros Peras, an intra-era hard fork designed to compress the finality window through more efficient voting among stake pool operators. A Rust-based client is also in development with a target of producing mainnet blocks around November 2026, as a resilience strategy should issues arise with the primary Haskell implementation.
