Michael Burry, famed for his bearish bets in ‘The Big Short,’ is maintaining his positions against the market even as the S&P 500 surged to a record high on Tuesday, gaining 1.9%. The Nasdaq Composite jumped 2.7%, with gains of nearly 5% over the first two days of the week. Burry remains skeptical of the artificial intelligence boom and warns that the market’s advance is creating a self-reinforcing cycle where falling volatility is pushing funds to increase leverage. He continues to hold short positions in the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX), Micron, Nvidia, Caterpillar, Palantir, Tesla and Applied Materials, all of which remain profitable except his bet against Nvidia.
