Zcash (ZEC) rose about 12% over 24 hours after developers set the NU7 mainnet upgrade to activate at block 3,543,405, expected around November 5. The token traded around $1,270 on Wednesday according to CoinGecko and has gained more than 148% year to date. Two developers approved Sean Bowe’s proposal, although the upgrade specifications still need to be finalized before the proposal is merged. NU7 aims to cut Zcash’s target block time by two-thirds, from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, to speed up transaction confirmations, while six of 12 readiness tasks are complete and Zebra node synchronization issues remain.
