Warren Buffett Steps Down After 60 Years – And His Bitcoin Views Are Unforgettable

Warren Buffett has officially stepped down as chairman of Berkshire Hathaway after more than 60 years with the company. At 96 years old, he becomes Chairman Emeritus and remains on the board, with his son Howard G. Buffett succeeding him as chairman and Greg Abel continuing to run the company as CEO. This retirement also marks the end of the career of one of Bitcoin’s most famous and persistent skeptics, the Oracle of Omaha having called the asset « rat poison squared » in 2018 and repeatedly stating over the years that it produces nothing and has no intrinsic value. Bitcoin’s market cap now exceeds $1.6 trillion, surpassing Berkshire Hathaway’s market capitalization, which stands below $1.1 trillion.
